Welcome to the Matamata Camera Club

Posted on January 07, 2012

We have had another very successful year in 2011 with around 25 members regularly attending meetings. The work that has been done organising the monthly critiques and knowledgable critiqures has certainly paid dividends with a significant improvement in everyones work, yet we've able to maintain the relaxed friendly environment that's always been a feature of the club.

The committee has completed the 2012 programme and it is available for download on the Programme page. The format is the same as 2011 with an interesting new set of theme challenges!

If you're interested in photography, come along and meet us - we're a friendly, social bunch. And our activities will help your photography improve as well. Please have a look around our site, pages include membership info, grading results, and member galleries.

About Us

Posted on April 04, 2010

The club was originally established in the early 60's, and after a hiatus of several years was reformed at the beginning of 2001 with Sam Harris as president.

We currently have around twenty attendees from as far as Tokoroa and Hamilton at our meeetings. All from diverse backgrounds, but with one thing in common - a love of photography. What we lack in size we make up for in enthusiasm, and new members will be warmly welcomed to our ranks. All photographic mediums are catered for, so whether you shoot film, or digital, colour, or black & white, you are sure to find a fellow enthusiast at the club.

Our aim is both enjoy socialising with fellow photographers and to promote photography as an art form. To this end we have competitions on a chosen theme at our monthly meetings, to encourage new and innovative ideas.

So if you have a film camera gathering dust in the cupboard, or if you have just bought the latest digital and need help figuring out its finer details, you're bound to find someone at the MCC who can help you.

Field Trips

Posted on February 05, 2011

We endeavour to organize a field trip on a regular basis to stimulate the creative juices. These are hugely enjoyable and have in recent times included, Cambridge Armistice Day, the Early New Zealand Museum at Tirau, and the Hot Rod show in Cambridge. Sometimes the creative juices don't flow, but whatever the outcome, we always manage to have fun.
